MOSCOW, January 24 - RAPSI, Diana Gutsul. The Norwegian police have started investigating opposition activist and blogger Rustem Adagamov on pedophilia charges. His lawyer Anton Zharov said he learned that from media reports.

In an interview with the Izvestia newspaper and the Russia Today TV channel in December, the blogger's ex-wife, Tatyana Delsal, said that when living in Norway Rustem Adagamov committed sexual crimes against an underage girl over the course of several years.

The media reported on Thursday that the victim had provided evidence of the alleged crime to the Russian authorities.

The victim, whose name is kept anonymous, had allegedly already told the Norwegian police the details of the purported crime, including various dates.

"I have no official information about this, apart from allegations in an article in a Russian newspaper. I will know today. As of the end of last week, there were no investigations [in process regarding my client]," Zharov told RAPSI.

He refused to say if Adagamov had left Russia.

Earlier, Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin told journalists that Russian investigators would investigate the reports accusing Adagamov of pedophilia.

He said that the blogger's ex-wife's claims made to the press regarding alleged relations between Adagamov and an underage girl in Norway were the reasons for the investigation.

Adagamov, also known as the Drugoi ("other") blogger, is one of LiveJournal's most popular users, with around 80,000 subscribers. In addition, he is a member of the Russian Opposition's Coordination Council.
