MOSCOW, December 24 – RAPSI. Russian Foreign Ministry has demanded from Sweden to ban the Kavkaz Center website functioning declared to be extremist.

Sweden is obliged to honor its international commitments to ban the website pursuant to a resolution of the UN Security Council’s Sanction Committee, the ministry reported on Monday.

The ministry also seeks extradition of Eldar Hamzin, a member of the Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami international terrorist organization, to Russia. The organization was forbidden by a Supreme Court ruling in 2003.

“Recently, the members of the group who received asylum in Sweden tried to hold an unauthorized rally near the Russian Embassy in Stockholm,” according to the ministry's statement.

The ministry has asked Sweden to extradite Hamzin, who organized the rally. Additionally, the ministry has sent a note to Stockholm stressing the inadmissibility of indulging extremist organizations and the need to ensure the safety of Russian institutions and citizens.
