MOSCOW, August 29 - RAPSI. The police have established that opposition figure Alexei Navalny's e-mail and Twitter account were hacked using a German IP address, the Interior Ministry's Moscow Department told RIA Novosti on Wednesday.

Navalny reported on his Live Journal blog on June 26 that his e-mail and Twitter account had been hacked, "evidently through the computers/i-Pads taken during the search."

He wrote the message 20 minutes after insulting statements appeared on his Twitter.

Later, the Investigative Committee called the allegations untrue and accused him of pressuring and attempting to discredit the investigation into the Bolotnaya Square riots on May 6.

Navalny still insists that the hackers used his computer.

"Access was presumably obtained using the IP address of a provider in Germany," the department told RIA Novosti.

It added that a query for information on the hackers has been sent to German law enforcement authorities and another request has been sent to the United States where the server is located.
