TVER, July 31 - RAPSI. President Vladimir Putin does not exclude the possibility of Russia switching to an electronic ID system for citizens sometime in the future.

"As for internal identification..., we might switch over to electronic identification sometime in the foreseeable future and have electronic cards to develop not only e-government, but also an e-community overall," he said at the Seliger-2012 nationwide youth forum in the Tver Region.

Meanwhile, Putin said it may be difficult to end the use of both foreign and domestic passports, and instead use a single document.

"Some people go abroad very often, and there would be stamps all over it," he said.
