MOSCOW, February 15 - RAPSI. The number of terror crimes fell by over half in 2011, Alexander Bortnikov, the Federal Security Service's (FSB) director and the head of the National Anti-Terrorist Committee said.

"A total of 365 terrorist crimes were committed in 2011 compared to 779 in 2010," he said.

Bortnikov added that the security services managed to prevent 94 terrorist crimes in 2011.

Bortnikov noted that several high-profile terror crimes, including a terror act at Moscow's Domodedovo airport and the shooting of tourists in the Republic of Kabardino Balkaria, were also solved. Law enforcement agencies identified the organizers and executors of these crimes, and most of them were either caught or killed, Bortnikov said.
