MOSCOW, July 27 (RAPSI) – Lawmaker Vladimir Burmatov has brought a bill banning animal trade through pet stores and poultry markets before the lower house of Russian parliament, according to the State Duma website.

Under the draft law, requirements to the places of animal trade are to be set by the government.

Currently, such requirements are not specified that leads to frequent violations in this field. Animals are often held in bad conditions without necessary veterinary aid and care, adequate nutrition, walks and communications and with violation of sanitary rules, an explanatory note to the initiative reads.

According to the document’s sponsor, the government has already given its positive comment on the legislative proposal.
