MOSCOW, December 1 (RAPSI) – Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has submitted a bill prohibiting people having a dual citizenship or foreign residence permit from holding public offices to the State Duma.

Thus, individuals without Russian citizenship or Russian nationals having dual citizenship, foreign residence permit or other documents confirming their right to permanent living in any foreign country will be banned from occupying posts in state or local government bodies or positions envisaging access to secret information, an explanatory note to the bill reads.

The legislative proposal has been drafted in accordance with the new provisions of Russia’s Constitution and envisages amendments to the Labour Code.
