Russian lawmaker proposes to hold early State Duma election
MOSCOW, March 10 (RAPSI) – A lawmaker representing the United Russia political party Alexander Karelin during a plenary meeting on Tuesday proposed to hold early State Duma election.
The Constitution, amendments give MPs sweeping powers; the President suggests increasing the role of political parties, Karelin said. He believes it would be fair to hold new election staying in tune with their new possibilities.
The State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin in turn offered Karelin to submit relevant amendments prior to the second reading of a Constitution changes bill.
