MOSCOW, November 5 (RAPSI) – President Vladimir Putin has signed a bill on tough punishment for organizing and implication in illegal obtaining by foreign citizens and stateless persons of documents required for entrance and stay in Russia into law. The document’s version is published on the official website of legal information.

Under the law, complicity in illegal receipt of documents for migrants would be punishable by fines of up to 200,000 rubles (over $3,000), community service or prison terms of up to 3 years.

Organization of illegal migration with the use of job position is to be punished with prison sentence of up to 7 years with fines of up to 500,000 rubles (about $8,000) and further restriction of freedom for up to 2 years.

The law lets bring chiefs and employees of private companies engaged in accessory in illegal obtaining of documents by migrants under the pretense of advisory services to responsibility.

The State Duma adopted the legislative proposal on October 15. The Federation Council approved the initiative on October 23.
