Russian government backs bills to improve child recreation quality

MOSCOW, May 24 (RAPSI) – Russia’s government has approved a package of bills to amend statutory regulation of organizing children’s recreation and health improvement, a statement of the Cabinet of Ministers reads.

The bills are aimed to provide safe and comfortable conditions for children’s rest in holiday camps, suppress illegal activity in this sphere, strengthen the responsibility of heads of organizations specializing in rest and recreation for the quality of services provided, according to the statement.

One of the bills envisages creating special regional registers of organizations specializing in children’s rest and recreation. The Ministry of Education will be authorized to set common principles of forming and maintaining the lists, to draft and approve a standard register and requirements to organizations hosting events involving children including those holding outdoors specifically journeys on foot and expeditions.

Another bill stipulates fines for organizing children’s recreation activities without being registered in the lists ranging from 1 to 3 million rubles ($15,500 – 46,500).
