MOSCOW, April 4 (RAPSI) – The lower house of Russian parliament adopted a bill on introduction of quotas for crab catching in the first reading on Thursday, according to the State Duma official website.

Investment crab quotas will be allocated based on the results of auctions, an explanatory note to the draft law reads.

Under the bill, 50% of the total allowable crab catch will be provided for this type of quotas. The quota parts will be assigned to their users for 10 years. Auction winners will be obliged to implement projects on the construction of objects determined by the Russian government.

The second reading of the bill is scheduled for April 9.
