MOSCOW, April 10 (RAPSI) – The State Duma has passed in the first reading amendments to law on rehabilitation of victims who suffered from political repressions that specify the procedure of recognizing people as victims.

According to the bill, prosecutors along with other state security and law enforcement agencies to examine documents, write down their conclusions and provide notes recognizing individuals as the ones who were subjected to political repressions and requiring rehabilitation. Refusal to provide such note may be contested in court.

Authors of the amendments note that currently the procedure requires examination of criminal and administrative cases, yet foreign authorities often refuse to provide these documents in timely manner.
