MOSCOW, October 27 (RAPSI) – Russian state bodies continue their work on implementation of rulings issued by the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) by modifying national laws to fit in with these decisions, the report on law enforcement in Russia in 2016 published on the official website of the president reads.

According to the report, in 2016, Russia changed its legislation in accordance with several rulings of the Strasbourg court, including cases of “Gerasimov and Others v. Russia,” “Burdov v. Russia” and others.

There is a need to carry on with modification of legislation concerning several important issues, the document says. Among those are such problems as transportation of prisoners, grounds for exemption from criminal liability, ability to challenge investigative proceedings and searches in courts, organization of meetings for prisoners, obligatory participation of the defendants in the administrative trials.

The report reads that Russia strives to implement the ruling granting people, who are not relatives of children, a right to meet the latter if these people provided care for the children. Conditions for these visits are presence of strong emotional bond between the visitors and children as well as no potential danger of violating child’s interests.

Also, the law regulating status of non-citizens with HIV is to be changed as well.
