MOSCOW, June 21 (RAPSI) - Police dogs have helped uncover about 46,000 crimes in Russia in 2015, the Interior Ministry’s press office reported on Tuesday.

According to the statement, about 668 kilograms of various drugs have been withdrawn from circulation; 227.9 kilograms of explosives, 379 explosive devices and over 63,000 weapon items have been found with the help of police dogs and handlers.

Over 12,000 service dogs help Russian police maintain law and order. In 2015, police dogs took part in more than 335,000 preventive actions including identification of suspicious objects and anti-terrorism security inspections, the statement reads.
