MOSCOW, April 27 (RAPSI) – The Federation Council of Russia on Wednesday approved a bill that deprives Russian lawmakers from their positions for failing to meet their obligations for more than 30 days, RIA Novosti reported.

According to the bill, a lawmaker’s status may be lost by decision of the State Duma if his or her political party or parliamentary committee initiates such procedure. The State Duma’s Ethics Commission is to be responsible for finding out the grounds for early termination of a lawmaker’s powers.

The bill is to be signed by Russian President.

Earlier the chairman of the Federation Council’s Regulation Committee, Vadim Tyulpanov, said that such measures may be proposed in regional parliaments as well.
