MOSCOW, February 20 (RAPSI) – The Federation Council, Russia’s upper house of parliament, will support a bill defining the “political activity” term, RIA Novosti reported on Saturday.

“The Federation Council and our Committee [Council’s Committee on constitutional legislation – ed.] will support a bill by our colleagues from the State Duma that will make amendments in the law on NGOs  in order to clarify the definition of “political activity,” Andrei Klishas, the chairman of the aforementioned Committee said.

Under the amendments, political activity is linked to such fields as state-building, securing Russia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, enforcement of law, order and security, national defense, foreign policy, political system integrity, social and economic and national development of the country, regulation of rights and freedoms of man and citizen.
