MOSCOW, January 29 (RAPSI) – Prosecutor General’s Office has called to pass a bill regulating debt collectors’ activity in Russia, RIA Novosti reported on Friday.

According to prosecutors, collectors often threaten life and health of people demanding debt payment.

Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika has got the situation related to the criminal activity of debt collectors under his own control, the office’s spokeswoman Marina Gridneva announced earlier.

The speaker of Russia's upper house of parliament, Valentina Matvienko, on Thursday proposed to suspend work of collection agencies until lawmakers adopt the corresponding legislation.
