MOSCOW, August 26 (RAPSI) — Russia’s Federal Customs Service is drafting regulations for customs officials who are instructed to destroy banned imports from the US, the EU, Ukraine and Canada.

The bill has been posted on the federal website of planned legislation.

The Federal Customs Service said there is no legislation on the procedure for the destruction of banned imports by customs officials.

In August 2014, Russia restricted food imports from the countries that imposed sanctions against Russia. This summer, the restrictions were extended until August 5, 2016. President Vladimir Putin also signed an executive order on destroying the banned products starting August 6, while the government issued regulations on eliminating the prohibited imports.
