MOSCOW, April 10 (RAPSI) – A bill on admission of foreign transfer students to Russian colleges and universities has been submitted to the lower house of parliament, the State Duma, according to its website.

“Many Russian and foreign citizens who are studying at foreign universities have expressed a desire to be transferred to Russian universities in light of the economic crisis and ruble devaluation,” says an explanatory note to the bill.

“Attracting more students to Russian universities and institutes, including foreign students, would have a substantial economic and political effect on Russia, the explanatory note says.

The MPs have proposed adding an article to the law on education to allow students at foreign schools to be transferred to Russian universities that have comparable curricula.
