MOSCOW, July 25 (RAPSI) - McDonald's could be banned from producing a range of burgers and some other products, a representative of the Novgorod Department of the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Protection and Welfare (Rospotrebnaszor) announced at the Tverskoi District Court, court press secretary Yekaterina Korotova told RIA Novosti.

Court sanctions could concern cheese burgers, royal cheese burgers, Filet-O-Fish, chicken burgers, berry ice cream and milk shakes. Rospotrebnadzor stressed that the fat, protein and carbohydrate content in McDonald's’ products does not comply with approved standards. The agency believes the actual nutritious value of the burgers, drinks and ice cream is not as stated in the consumer information.

The agency thus requested that the court ban these products.

The claim resulted from a routine inspection last May at two McDonalds restaurants in Veliky Novgorod that revealed serious violations, according to the claimants. McDonald's has repeatedly been accused by customers around the world of providing confusing product information.   A preliminary trial in Russia will begin in August.
