MOSCOW, April 4 (RAPSI) – Russia’s Federal Migration Service will fingerprint migrants’ children who are older than six years, reads a bill posted Friday on the website of planned legislation.

“The family members of foreigners who have temporary residence permits or who have come to Russia in search of asylum and refuge shall be fingerprinted upon turning six years old,” the bill says.

The document also mentions the possibility of voluntary fingerprinting, which will be both free and paid, and the agencies that have access to the fingerprints.

The time limit for holding a migrant’s fingerprints has been extended. In the past, the prints were destroyed when the said person reached 80 years old, but now they will be kept until the person’s 100th birthday.
