MOSCOW, February 10 (RAPSI) - The State Duma Committee on Criminal Law on Monday supported a draft bill amending the provisions concerning the retrieval of kidnapped children.

In 2011, Russia joined the International Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction, which aims to facilitate the immediate retrieval of children unlawfully transported to any of the 87 member states of the Convention.

The proposed legislation would amend the Civil Code with a provision establishing the procedure for reviewing cases that concern the return of children, and granting custody rights. Furthermore, the new amendments would allow faster hearings of such cases in courts, and would lead to swift reaction upon court's order.
