MOSCOW, November 26 (RAPSI) – A Just Russia party lawmaker Oleg Mikheev submitted a bill Tuesday proposing a ban on fine and unintelligible print in contracts.

The bill proposes amendments to Russia's consumer rights protection law.

The memo attached to the bill states that fine print in contracts for renewable credit lines for use in credit card operations prevents the full text of the contract from full visual comprehension and accurate interpretation. “The courts already recognize fine print clauses as violations. However, when the debtor uses that as a line of defense, the courts side with the banks,” the memo reads.

The courts’ divisive stance on the matter tampers with the citizens’ right to receive adequate information about the services or goods offered, which leads to undesirable outcome for the buyer.
