Draft law on control over officials' revenues goes online

16:25 14/03/2012

MOSCOW, March 14 - RAPSI. A draft federal law forcing officials to declare not only their revenues, but also large expenses was posted online for public discussion on Wednesday.

It is available at http://zakon.government.ru, a website for discussing socially important bills.

The discussion will end on April 5.

The draft law outlines the procedure for verifying personal revenue data disclosed by officials.

If verifications reveal that the expenses of an official and his family exceed their income, the relevant material will be referred to the law enforcement authorities.

Subsequently, the court will decide if the property unproven to have been acquired lawfully should be seized for the public's benefit.
