Russian President signs law on bribery fines
GORKI, May 4 –RAPSI. President Dmitry Medvedev has signed a law levying fines as a multiple of bribes.
"Today, I have signed a law on fines that will be levied as a multiple of any bribe," Medvedev said at a meeting with Prosecutor-General Yury Chaika.
The fines will range from 25,000 to 500 million rubles.
The new law is intended to fight corruption.
"I hope this law will be effective in the anti-corruption struggle,” Medvedev said. “So far, the scale of corruption is very large.”
