Controversial US surveillance law passes lower house of Congress

The US House of Representatives approved the extension Wednesday of a highly controversial intelligence surveillance law that had been set to expire at the end of this year, according to the House website. The extension passed the House with 301 yeas trumping 118 nays, and will next be subject to a Senate vote.
