Former regional penitentiary official convicted of divulging state secrets

MOSCOW, October 5 (RAPSI) – The Rostov Regional Court has sentenced a former chief of the regional Penitentiary Service’s Main Directorate to 2 years in penal colony settlement for divulgence of official secrets, the press service of Russia’s Prosecutor General’s Office reports.

Additionally, he has been prohibited from holding state and municipal authority posts for 2 years. According to case papers, in late May 2019, the defendant abused his power. In order to conceal facts o allegedly illegal activity of his subordinates he disclosed classified documents.
