MOSCOW, September 4 (RAPSI) – The Russian Justice Ministry has announced that persons seeking to fill the vacancy of the judge of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) from the Russian Federation available since January 1, 2022 may take part in an open contest organized by the body, the Justice Ministry informs RAPSI on Friday.

The contest is carried out by a selection board, which at the first stage is to study documents in order to establish if an applicant meets its specified requirements; at the second stage the board is to conduct personal interviews with the candidates on the issues relating to the ECHR judge duties; European languages proficiency is to be taken into account, the statement reads.

The applicants need to submit their documents to the selection board not later than on October 5, 2020, the Justice Ministry notifies.
