St. Petersburg detention center to be checked after detainees beating reports
MOSCOW, August 9 (RAPSI) – Russia’s Prosecutor General’s Office would check the reports of alleged beating of detainees in the St. Petersburg detention center, known as Kresty-2, the government agency’s press service told RAPSI on Friday.
Satisfying the legislative safety requirements will be checked during the supervisory activities, the statement reads. If violations are found, corresponding measures will be taken, according to prosecutors.
On Friday, the detention center’s administration confirmed that the video showing beating of a detainee was recorded in one of the facility’s cells.
