MOSCOW, August 2 (RAPSI) – The Moscow Commercial Court has ruled in favor of Yandex quashing a decision and an order of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS), which said Russia’s web-search giant was in breach of legislation because of distributing advertisement of Fonbet betting company during broadcast of FIFA World Cup 2018 matches, the court’s judgement reads.

The case against Yandex was launched in September 2018, when the antimonopoly watchdog said that Fonbet advertisement could be seen in records of the best moments of these matches and on several Yandex services.

FAS reminded at that time that advertisement of gambling and betting online was prohibited.

The commercial court ruled that the actions of Yandex did not constitute an infringement on the Russian legislation on advertising, whereas FAS arguments lacked substantiation.
