MOSCOW, April 29 (RAPSI) – The North Caucasus District Military Court has sentenced Russian citizen Rustam Ismailov to 15 years in prison for involvement in a terrorist attack in southern Russia’s Pyatigorsk in August 2010, the Investigative Committee’s press service has reported.

According to investigators, on August 15, 2010, members of a gang led by the defendant’s brother Raphael Ismailov killed a taxi driver, and two days later they exploded a car near multi-unit dwellings in Pyatigorsk. As a result, 46 people were injured. On September 30, the gang members killed one more taxi driver in Stavropol and attempted to commit another terrorist attack but failed.

In 2012 and 2013, four members of the gang were sentenced to prison terms ranging from 16 to 24 years. Investigation into 2 other persons is underway. A criminal case against two more gang members including Raphael Ismailov was closed because of their death.
