MOSCOW, September 3 (RAPSI) – Ex-chief of Dalspetsstroy construction company Yury Volkodav has filed an appeal against his detention in a case over embezzlement of 140 million rubles ($2 million), the spokesperson of Moscow’s Basmanny District Court Yunona Tsareva has told RAPSI.

On August 29, the court detained Volkodav, who stands charged with abuse of authority, until October 27.

According to investigators, Volkodav, who headed the company in 2016, used the money inefficiently and overpaid suppliers 140 million rubles allocated for the housing construction.

In June, Russia’s Supreme Court mitigated the sentence of Dalspetsstroy building company’s ex-CEO Yury Khrizman and his son Mikhail convicted of embezzling 5.2 billion rubles (about $76 million) during Vostochny Cosmodrome construction.
