MOSCOW, August 14 (RAPSI) – Russian opposition activist Sergey Udaltsov was arrested by police officers on Tuesday in the aftermath of a rally against national pension reform, his wife Anastasia Udaltsova wrote on her Twitter account.

According to Udaltsova, the activist was transported to the Meschansky District Court of Moscow.

On July 28, political left organizations held a mass rally against the pension reform in Russia. Allegedly, Udaltsov took part in the public action before appearing at the designated location for a rally.

On July 19, the State Duma passed in the first reading amendments to the pension system. The document, which was suggested in mid-June by the government, provides a gradual increase in the retirement age of up to 65 years for men and up to 63 years for women.
