MOSCOW, April 28 (RAPSI) – Konstantin Kalninyisch, former deputy head of Russia’s State Property Management (Rosimushchestvo) for St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region, charged with embezzlement of entrusted property, has been detained, the Unified press-service of St. Petersburg courts has told RAPSI.

The defendant will stay in detention until June 19.

According to investigators, in early 2017 Kalninyisch and head manager of Leader Trans Group Yelena Navoyenko and unidentified accomplices ensured signing of government contracts for various services related to state property.

Investigators believe that Navoyenko, obligated to ensure safety of the property, embezzled it and used for her own purposes causing damage estimated at 224 million rubles ($3.6 million). At the same time Kalninyisch transferred property to Leader Trans Group receiving part of the funds from its sale.
