ST. PETERSBURG, February 14 (RAPSI, Mikhail Telekhov) – A court in St. Petersburg has acquitted police officers Vasily Kulkov and Dmitry Fenyutin, who had been earlier charged with tortures of an arrested person, the Unified press service of St. Petersburg courts has told RAPSI.

According to investigators, in October 2015, Kulkov and Fenyutin handcuffed an individual arrested on suspicion of committing an administrative offence to branches located near the opposite walls of a police room. The arrested person therefore has been restrained for 50 minutes. These actions of the police officers were classified as tortures.

The defendants have pleaded not guilty.

The court acquitted Kulkov and Fenyutin because of absence of crime in the act, recognized their right to rehabilitation including redress for the pecuniary and non-pecuniary damage, upholding of labor, pensionary, housing and other rights, the press service’s statement reads.
