MOSCOW, February 6 (RAPSI) – The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has declared inadmissible or stroke out 6,886 out of 8,042 appeals filed against Russia in 2017, the statistics published on the court’s website read.

Notably, the court in Strasbourg passed 305 judgments concerning 1,156 applications against Russia finding at least one violation of the European Convention on Human Rights in 293 judgments.

The court granted interim measures in 29 cases and refused to do so in 151 cases. Also, 1,955 cases were communicated to the Russian government. On January 1 of 2018, the number of pending applications before the ECHR was held at 9,777 with 12 cases to be reviewed by the court’s Grand Chamber.

According to the statistics, 53 out of 668 employees of the court’s registry are Russian citizens.
