Norwegian citizen detained by Russian court pleads not guilty to espionage
MOSCOW, December 26 (RAPSI) – A citizen of Norway Frode Berg detained by a Russian court on suspicion of espionage has pleaded not guilty, his lawyer Ilya Novikov has told RAPSI.
Earlier, the Lefortovsky District Court of Moscow ordered detention of Berg until February 5, 2018. The Norwegian national appealed the ruling.
According to media reports, the defendant was arrested when he received secret documents containing information on Russian navy. Allegedly these papers were given by Russian national Alexey Zhitnyuk, who was detained in December on suspicion of treason.
