MOSCOW, December 1 (RAPSI) – Six alleged ex-members of the largest criminal organization in Siberia, the Osintsev gang, will face trial, the Investigative Committee’s press-release stated on Friday.

Investigation into the case against them has been completed.

According to investigators, the defendants are charged with participation in an organized criminal group, murders of two or more persons and other grave crimes.

Investigators believe that the defendants were members of the Osintsev gang, which was active in the Zabaykalsky Krai from 1993 to 2007 and were responsible for killing six persons, robbery, extortion and other crimes.

The criminal group was created by Igor Osintsev and his acquaintance Igor Melnichuk in Chita back in 1993. The gang was active for nearly 20 years and listed over 40 criminals, who committed over 400 crimes and killed over 40 persons. In 2009, Osintsev was sentenced to 25 years behind bars.
