ST. PETERSBURG, July 27 (RAPSI, Mikhail Telekhov) – The Krasnoselsky District Court of St. Petersburg has sentenced Israil Aliyev, a resident of Voronezh, to 7.5 years in prison for the murder of Paralympic wrestler Semyon Filatov, the court’s press service told RAPSI on Thursday.

His accomplice, former athlete’s girlfriend Anastasia Miniaylova, received a 1.5-year prison sentence.

Additionally, the court granted lawsuits filed by Filatov’s relatives and ordered Aliyev to pay the victims about 2.5 million rubles ($42,000).

According to case papers, Filatov, 24, was shot six times in the heart and once in the face at point blank range in July 2016.

Investigators believe that Miniaylova and Aliyev have conspired to kill the Paralympian out of revenge.  Miniaylova has organized the murder and seduced her ex-boyfriend from home thus giving Aliyev an opportunity to kill Filatov.
