MOSCOW, April 4 (RAPSI, Artem Ponomarev) – The Moscow City Court has upheld the lower court's dismissal of a lawsuit filed by Russian screenwriter Mikhail Raskhodnikov against 20th Century Fox CIS over alleged plagiarism in the film “The Martian” directed by Ridley Scott, RAPSI reported from the courtroom on Monday.

Raskhodnikov claimed that the idea for “The Martian” was stolen from the story written by him earlier than the Hollywood film’s scenario. Russian screenwriter demanded 50 million rubles ($745,000) in compensation.

The Martian  achieved Russian distribution on October 8 and became 2015's seventh-highest-grossing movie in the country.
