MOSCOW, February 24 (RAPSI) – An investigation of yet another embezzlement case at the construction of Vostochny Cosmodrome has been finished, RIA Novosti reported on Wednesday.
Two suspects in the case are former head of one of the Cosmodrome’s construction departments and ex-director of a commercial company.

According to investigators, they have conspired to commit embezzlement. Former head of the construction department has asked the ex-director of a company to sale power cable for the Cosmodrome’s construction needs and artificially inflate the cost of said cable by 900,000 rubles ($11,750). This sum was transferred to bank account of the former construction department head.

Investigators believe that cable has not been delivered in full and final price of the product reached 13 million rubles ($169,700) with ex-director embezzling 11,5 million rubles ($150,000) from the construction funds.

This is one of several criminal cases related to embezzlement at the Vostochny Cosmodrome.

According to investigators, ex-CEO of Dalspetsstroy, Yuriy Khrizman, his son Mikhail and Viktor Chudov, Chairman of the Khabarovsk Territory Duma, embezzled about 106 million rubles ($1.6 million) belonging to the company. However, one criminal episode was uncovered within the investigation into the case over alleged embezzlement at Vostochny Cosmodrome.

Dalspetsstroy has repeatedly reported that the project was behind schedule at some sites but promised to catch up.

Yuriy Khrisman was fired in 2013 after it was revealed that the government had not received complete information about the delays.

The construction of the space center, due to become Russia's main launch site, began in 2012. The facility is planned to be completed in 2016. The first manned mission is scheduled for 2018.
