MOSCOW, January 27 (RAPSI) – Russia’s Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld a 13-year prison sentence handed down to former police officer Evgeniy Chistov for espionage on behalf of CIA, RAPSI reports from the courtroom.

According to the Federal Security Service (FSB), Chistov, a former police officer in the Moscow region, was selling secrets of Russian state to CIA. He was convicted by the Moscow Regional Court in November 2015.

In 2011, Chistov, who was serving in the police at that time, made a contact with CIA. He was gathering and transferring information, including classified data, to American agency. Chistov has admitted his guilt.
