MOSCOW, December 9 (RAPSI) - The Lefortovsky District Court of Moscow has extended until March 12 the detention of Mokhmad Mezhidov and Elman Ashayev, who stand charged with planning a terror attack in Moscow, the court’s spokesperson Yulia Skotnikova told RAPSI on Wednesday.

As reported earlier, FSB arrested a group of alleged terrorists who planned to organize an explosion at Moscow public transport. Investigators believe that terrorists attempted to intimidate Russian authorities to stop military operation against the Islamic State forces in Syria.

The Federal Security Service (FSB) chief, Alexander Bortnikov, announced that the alleged mastermind behind the planned attack has come to Russia from Syria.

Some of the suspects were training in the Islamic State military camps but came to Russia long before the start of Russian operation in Syria.

The suspects face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
