MOSCOW, July 7 (RAPSI) - The Russian Supreme Court has pardoned Oleg Shcherbakov, a resident of the Smolensk Region who was convicted of divulging state secrets, the court press service told RAPSI on Tuesday.

Earlier, Shcherbakov was sentenced to a two-year suspended prison term andbanned from working in law enforcement and government for two years.

“A judicial panel ruled to change the verdict of the Smolensk Regional Court regarding Oleg Shcherbakov, pardoning the defendant under an amnesty dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War,” a court representative said.

The case is confidential. What information and to whom Shcherbakov reported has not been disclosed.
