MOSCOW, June 29 (RAPSI) - Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has opened a case against MTS mobile network concerning possible violation of advertising regulations, according to an agency statement on its website.

Skartel mobile network (Yota brand, owned by Megafon) filed a complaint with the FAS about an MTS advertisement that promoted the cancellation of national roaming rates, which the complainant believed was misleading and inaccurate.

According to the FAS, the MTS advertising slogan “We cancelled roaming in Russia” violates Article 5 of the law On Advertising as it contains inaccurate information on the service. The advertisements for a United Russia tariff are also being protested for violating the law because the material terms of the deal have not been properly communicated to customers.

The case will be heard on July 21, 2015.
