MOSCOW, February 18 (RAPSI) – Moscow’s Tagansky District Court on Wednesday upheld an order of communications regulator Roskomnadzor to block access to Alexei Navalny’s website, RAPSI reports from the courtroom.

Navalny claimed that Roskomnadzor blocked access to his website on January 13 at the request of Prosecutor General's Office. Earlier access to specific pages of the website was restricted. Navalny challenged the decision of the regulator.

Roskomnadzor representatives told the court that the website was blocked because it was promoting Russian opposition rallies in violation of law.

Roskomnadzor also claimed that Navalny's rights were not violated because he is not the owner of the website. However, Navalny's lawyer, Ivan Zhdanov, showed evidence confirming that his client holds the rights to the website.
