MOSCOW, November 5 (RAPSI) – Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), fast-food giant's charity division, could be closed in Russia for providing false information in a registration form, Izvestia newspaper reoprts on Wednesday.

State Duma lawmaker Andrei Krutov (A Just Russia party) reportedly filed a request with the Prosecutor General's Office seeking an investigation into the financial activities of Ronald McDonald House Charities to ensure compliance with Russian law and to register the organization as a foreign agent.

Moscow Prosecutor Sergei Kudeneyev notified Krutov that RMHC was not found at its place of registration during a probe.

Prosecutors have filed a request asking the Federal Tax Service to take “appropriate measures in accordance with the law,” according to the newspaper.

The central department of the Federal Tax Service recommended that its territorial agencies close companies that are not located at their places of registration, that is, the address entered in the Unified State Registry of Legal Entities.

RMHC will be asked to fix the data in the registry. If the company fails to comply tax authorities would submit the case to a court seeking to close it, Vitaly Kolesnikov from the Federal Tax Service told Izvestia.

In August, the consumer rights agency, Rospotrebnadzor, inspected over 100 McDonald’s restaurants in Russia. Operations were suspended at about a dozen restaurants over alleged sanitary violations.

McDonald’s, the world’s largest hamburger fast food chain, has over 430 restaurants in 75 Russian regions. Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets said that Rospotrebnadzor had not planned to inspect all McDonald’s restaurants operating in Russia.
