MOSCOW, August 6 (RAPSI, Diana Gutsul) - The Khamovnichesky Court in Moscow  on Wednesday rejected an appeal filed by the online newspaper Kasparov.ru challenging the decisions of the Prosecutor General’s Office and Roskomnadzor, which led to the blocking of the newspaper’s website, the plaintiff’s attorney  Damir Gainutdinov told RAPSI.

In March, the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) added Grani.ru, Kasparov.ru, the site of Yezhednevny Zhurnal and the blog of opposition leader Alexei Navalny to the list of banned sites at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office. Roskomnadzor claimed that these internet resources encouraged “illegal activity and participation in public events that are held in violation of the established procedure.”

“Users informed the editorial board on March 13 that the site was blocked. We have asked the court to overturn the action of the Prosecutor General’s Office and the subsequent Roskomnadzor directive to the providers to block access to Kasparov.ru, and to reopen access to the site,” Gainutdinov said earlier.

Previously, the Grani.ru online newspaper contested the above actions of the Prosecutor General’s Office and Roskomnadzor. The Tagansky District Court dismissed the claim.
