MOSCOW, June 5 (RAPSI) - The Moscow Commercial Court on Thursday ordered Russian insurers Ingosstrakh, AIG Insurance and Reinsurance Company and ACE to pay about 12 million rubles ($341,493) to Strabag AG, a major Austrian construction company, for the collapse of the underground car park of the Vivaldi Plaza office and hotel building in 2009, RAPSI reports from the courtroom.

The court reconsidered the case. Strabag’s lawsuit was granted in part. The company sued the insurers for over 1 billion rubles ($29 million).

Moreover, the court rejected the counterclaims filed by the insurance companies demanding 52 million rubles ($1.5 million) for Strabag’s unjustified enrichment.

Strabag sued the three companies because it was unsatisfied with the insurance payout issued in regard to the collapse of the underground car park of the Vivaldi Plaza office and hotel building, not far from the Paveletsky Railway Station in Moscow in September 2009. The building with the underground car park was built by Strabag AG and insured by Ingosstrakh (25%), AIG Insurance and Reinsurance Company (30%) and ACE (45%).
