MOSCOW, May 28 (RAPSI) – Russian judges and court employees have been cautioned against traveling to the countries that have extradition agreements with the United States, Kommersant newspaper writes on Wednesday.

The authors of that recommendation cite the April 10 warning of the Foreign Ministry, which mentioned the “routine practice” of pursuing Russian nationals at the request of US security services and the possibility of provocations against Russian nationals.

According to the newspaper, a letter of reminder signed by Alexander Gusev, head of the Supreme Court’s Judicial Department, was sent the other day to all the Russian judicial institutions, from the Supreme Court to the magistrates.

An employee of the Judicial Department told Kommersant that this was not a ban but a recommendation. The newspaper has established that a strict prohibition from traveling abroad is only effective for those judicial employees who have access to state secrets, in particular, confidential cases.

Ulyana Solopova from the Moscow City Court told Kommersant that the Moscow City Court and the other district courts in Moscow had received the letter.   According to Kommersant’s sources, Russian judges do not plan to stop traveling abroad.
